Free Speech Teach-in Series
The Philosophy Department, the , the Center for Practical and Professional Ethics, and the Heterodox Academy Community at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ hosts a series of public discussions for the campus community. We’re facing a free speech crisis in America on a number of fronts. This teach-in discussion series is intended to educate about the basic philosophical arguments and issues surrounding free speech, and to promote open, constructive, civil dialogue about free speech, and on the topics that are dividing us.
All meetings in the series will be at 4:30pm in Mendocino 1003 on the following dates:
- September 25. Free speech on campus. Christina Bellon, Professor of Philosophy and Matt McCormick, Professor of Philosophy and Co-chair of the CSUS Council for Academic Freedom.
- October 23. Free speech and the government. Kyle Swan, Professor of Philosophy, Director of the Center for Practical and Professional Ethics and Co-chair of the CSUS Council for Academic Freedom and Matt McCormick, Professor of Philosophy and Co-chair of the CSUS Council for Academic Freedom.
- November 20. Free speech and social media. Matt McCormick, Professor of Philosophy and Co-chair of the CSUS Council for Academic Freedom.
